Political parties in Nigeria are bracing up for the 2023 general elections with the top two political parties seeking alliance to see to their victory in the polls. The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, are mulling over the option of engaging the presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, in talks on how to work together to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress.
2. EFCC declares pastor, wife wanted for alleged N2bn
A couple, Onyinmiebi (Miebi Baraza) and Beatrice Bribena, has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. In a statement, the EFCC declared the couple wanted for allegedly defrauding Nigerians to the tune of N2 billion.

The tragedy that struck the St Francis church in Owo Ondo state witnessed a heroic action by a 15-year-old boy. According to the boy’s mother, “Their 15-year- old son, Victor, who is in SS1, however miraculously survived the attack. When the gunmen started shooting inside the church, he laid down flat on the ground. He decided to lie in a pool of blood so that if the attackers saw him they would think he had already been shot. That was how he laid down until the attackers finished and left. “I asked about the children and I was directed to go and check at the mortuary. As I was going towards the mortuary, I saw the son on a bike on his way to the mortuary and when I asked after his father, he told me he was dead. I asked after his sister and he showed me her corpse which he was taking to the mortuary.”
4. CBN to sell N1.2trn Treasury Bills by Q3’22
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, said it will sell N1.2 trillion worth of Treasury Bills (TBs) in the third quarter of 2022 (Q3’22). TBs are short term debt instruments used by CBN to borrow money from the public on behalf of the federal government. The apex bank also uses TBs to control money supply in the economy.

But the Director of Media, Biodun Oyebanji Campaign Organisation, Biodun Olatunbosun, dismissed the allegation, saying the opposition parties having been faced with the reality of the moment, had been resorting to falsehood to whip up sentiment preparatory to their failure at the poll.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has accused the Governor of Lagos State of abandoning governance after the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress. He said this in a statement on Saturday titled, ‘Sanwo-Olu and governance in recess’.
