Presidential candidate of the Labour Party on Wednesday met with Rivers state governor, Nyesome Wike.
The meeting took place at the private residence of the Rivers governor in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Wike and Obi both expressed their interest to contest the 2023 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party. While Wike contested in the primary election where he lost to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Obi dumped the party for the Labour party where he emerged as flagbearer.
Wike was also overlooked for the vice-presidential candidate position, with Atiku opting for Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta state governor.
Obi’s visit to Wike comes a few days after David Umahu, Ebonyi governor, had also met with the Rivers governor.
