The Nigerian Police Force says it will interrogate singer Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy after the security personnel attached to him shot two persons at Cubana club in Lagos Island.
One of Burna Boy’s police escorts was said to have opened fire on Irebami Lawrence and Tolu, his friend, at the club located around Victoria Island in Lagos.
The shooting was said to have occurred after the singer allegedly made a pass at a lady said to be Lawrence’s wife.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police spokesperson revealed on Sunday that the singer will be interrogated over the shooting.
His post was in response to a Twitter user who argued that the matter has nothing to do with ‘African Giant’ crooner.
The user, identified as Adeshina, had claimed the police should focus its investigation on its officers involved in the incident.
“This has nothing to do with burna boy. The duty of police guard to Burna Boy is to protect his life. So, sir forget what some Burna (Boy) haters said about him. Please carry out your investigation (with) due diligence sir. God bless Nigeria police force,” the user wrote.
In his response, Adejobi said there is no way the police can conduct a detailed investigation into the matter without interrogating the musician.
“Exactly what we will do. But there is no how d police want to have detailed investigation without interrogating BB (Burna Boy). No way,” he wrote.
“So, the level of involvement of everyone in the incident will determine his punishment or otherwise. We should not pre-empt what the report will reveal.”
