Moshood Salvador a former Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress was yesterday unveiled as the LP’s governorship candidate in Lagos.

This is as another former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Gbadebo Rhodes has laid claim to the governorship ticket of the Labour Party in Lagos state.

Salvador had once served as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos before he defected to the APC.

Salvado is said to be the founder of a political group, the Conscience Forum with members spread across the 20 local governments.

Speaking on why he dumped the ruling party for Labour, he said, “I moved to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because I decided that the main opposition party has never been ready to win elections in Lagos State.

“I had to move to the APC because of my people. APC didn’t allow my people to benefit from anybody so we moved to where my people can be recognized. The APC promised my people 100 jobs at the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), Lagos Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) and Neighbourhood Watch.

“They also promised to give us Commissioner and Special Adviser positions and none were respected. They also sidelined my people from the ward, local government and state meetings,” he said.

At the official declaration, held at the Surulere area of the state, Mr Salvador said, “I can assure LP that I am going to get the best for you. Moving from one party to the other is just because of the people.

“My concern is all about people, hence we just have to look for where they just have to be recognised. All the APC promised to give my people, none was given,” said Mr Salvador, a former PDP chairman in Lagos who defected to the APC in 2018.

“It is not worthy to be in APC. We have to move to where labour counts. Where we were before, we were only working and none was coming to my people, hence the movement to Labour.”

He alleged that members of his forum were not accommodated in APC, from ward level to state level, in both elective and appointed positions.

“Any right thinking person will look for where he and his people will be recognised. That is where we are today, I, Hon. Moshood Salvador and my teeming members of CF have moved to LP.

“Having moved to LP, we have been doing a lot of things together, that is why we have come to show the whole world that we are no more in APC.

“Our members have been given recognition in LP, such that some of them have become the candidates of the party,” he added.

Meanwhile, a former PDP member in the state, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour has also laid claim to the LP governorship ticket.
