A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the National Identity Management Commission and the Nigerian Immigration Service to release the biodata of David Ukpo, the victim of the alleged organ harvesting trial against former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, who gave the order in a judgement delivered on Friday, directed the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), and two commercial banks to release Nwamini’s details in their possession to the couple.

The London Metropolitan Police arrested and charged Ike Ekweremadu and his wife in court for allegedly bringing a child (Ukpo) to the UK for organ harvesting.

The UK authorities said the “child” had “been safeguarded”, while the police said their operatives “are working closely with partners on continued support”.

Although the London police said Ukpo is 15, his passport and bank verification number (BVN) show he is 21.

Ekweremadu and his wife June 27 filed an originating summon through their counsel and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Adegboyega Awomolo, at the court in Abuja.

They prayed the court for an order directing the NIMC to bring out the Certified True Copy of the biodata of David Ukpo Nwamini.

Awomolo who gave 20 grounds said Nwamini’s National Identification Number, which is in the possession of the NIMC, should be produced to facilitate the criminal investigation and tender same to establish his client’s innocence.

He also sought an order directing the Comptroller General of NIS to provide them with the documents and application form which Nwamini presented to obtain his international passport, to assist the criminal investigation and tender same before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court in the UK.
