Didier Drogba helped bring the Global Youth Summit to a close by offering an inspiring concluding keynote speech. Together with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), over 120 young delegates managed to participate in the event.
The masterclass was the culmination of a three-day event with talks from people in various fields on what it takes to be successful
Tourism and sports can contribute to the success of Africa. Didier Drogba, a footballer and humanitarian, talked about giving back through his new philanthropic organization and the importance of affordable tourism for growth.
“In my career, I was lucky enough to travel: from Lagos to Shanghai, London, and Sarajevo,” he said. “Meeting people from different traditions brought me the most joy.”
Discuss how to work towards a common goal
UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili said, “As a UNWTO Ambassador, [Didier Drogba] brings the drive and energy he showed on the football pitch to promoting the power of tourism for growth and development. Like UNWTO, Drogba is empowering global youth and so helping to build a more sustainable and resilient future for us all.”
UNWTO and the Italian National Tourism Agency assembled youth aged 12 to 18 interested in engaging with tourism leaders to discuss leadership skills at an inaugural Global Youth Tourism Summit.
