Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, says the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will face an uphill task to win the 2023 election.
Atiku said this during an interview with Arise TV which was broadcast on Friday.
He said the LP does not have a structure in many parts of the country and this would serve as an impediment to the party’s emergence in 2023.
In his words, “It will take a miracle for Labour Party with no structure in the grassroots to win the presidency. In the north 90% of our people are not in tune to Social media.”
““This is a party that doesn’t have a governor, doesn’t have members of the National Assembly, doesn’t have state assembly members, & politics in this country depends on the structures you have at the various levels — at the LG level, state level, and at the national level”.
Obi served as Atiku’s running mate in the 2019 presidential election under the PDP.
He decamped to the Labour Party weeks before the Presidential primary of the PDP and has since garnered lots of supporters in the build up to the 2023 election.
His supporters who refer to themselves as ‘Obidients’ are arguably the largest on the Nigerian social media space.
