Former Rivers South-East Senator Magnus Abe has joined the Social Democratic Party in Rivers state.
Abe announced his decision to join SDP in a post published on his Facebook page on Friday.
“Yes I am and I have been a member of the Social Democratic Party SDP,” the former senator said.
“I remain irrevocably committed to the ideals that have driven my politics through the years.
“We will continue to do all we can to improve internal democracy in the politics of our country and focus on the people. SDP progress. SDP progress. We move.”
Recently, Abe resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the events that trailed the governorship primary in Rivers.
Speaking in an interview on Arise Tv on the 20th of July, Abe announced his resignation from the APC but restated his loyalty to the Presidential ambition of the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I have since left the APC in Rivers State but the letter circulating round is not from me. I am still part of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s family and have no issue with him whatsoever,” he had said during the interview.
Abe had been at loggerheads with Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation. The conflict between the duo resulted in the disqualification of the party from contesting the 2019 governorship election in Rivers.
