The full list of nominees for the Women’s 2022 Ballon d’Or has been announced, with France Football recognising Europe’s best female players of the past 12 months.

Lyon’s Ada Hegerberg won the inaugural Ballon d’Or Feminin back in 2018 and United States Women’s national team star Megan Rapinoe scooped the prize the following year, but the Covid-19 pandemic caused the 2020 ceremony to be cancelled.

Asisat Oshoala is one of the best African players in the world. The striker has been chosen as African Player of the Year on no less than four occasions (2019, 2014, 2016 and 2017).

The year 2014 was a stellar one for the Nigerian as she also claimed the Ballon d’Or and the Golden Shoe at the U20 World Cup. Oshoala has great experience despite her youth having played for Arsenal in 2016 alongside Vicky Losada and for Liverpool the previous year in the English top division of Women’s Football.
