The ongoing rift between Rivers state governor Nyesome Wike and the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Atiku Abubakar has generated debates among Nigerians.
Having lost the PDP’s presidential ticket to Atiku, Wike was tipped to be chosen as Atiku’s running mate but the latter picked Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.
Wike has since been meeting with some APC chieftains, including Tinubu’s allies. On Monday, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was invited by Wike to inaugurate a road project.
The Rivers governor also invited former Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila to inaugurate some projects in his state.
Earlier, some APC governors led by the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Kayode Fayemi, had also met Wike in his state amid his feud with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.
The crisis in the party has since generated varying reactions on social media.
How many times as Atiku left PDP? Is Atiku not one of those who relegated PDP from ruling to opposition?
How many times has Wike left PDP? Has there ever been a time when Wike worked against the interest of the party?
So, why is the latter presented as the issue?

Wike fans are funny. They are all okay with the man trying to build a dynasty in Rivers beyond 2023. Godfather like Tinubu.
The good thing is that Rivers politicians are not as docile as those in Lagos. They're equally as militant as him.
May 2023 and his charade ends..

My brother calm down.
Tinubu has reached out to Wike and has made a lot of mouth watery offers. No be everything person go talk for Twitter. At the appropriate time, you guys will see it. https://t.co/j1Rd2Erzdw

Tinubu never forgets. Whether Wike works with him or not, Leopard doesn't lose his spot. Anyway, all of us will be alive beyond 2023 to see what becomes of Wike. He should enjoy the hubris of Rivers money and immunity as Governor. Na here all of us dey. We dey watch https://t.co/OKgiKZiZFa

It really is Wike season. When is deadline day?

If Wike had pulled an Atiku when Atiku pulled an Atiku, would there have been a formidable party for him to return to?
Please, it is foolish to dismiss Wike’s pain. Make we dey try talk true

With hindsight, I see @atiku dodged a bullet by not choosing @GovWike as his running mate. Extremely wise decision by Atiku.

Atiku is willing to offload Wike whether it costs him victory or not. My question is, is the APC ready to accommodate Wike and his idiosyncrasies? If the APC brings Wike to APC, then I’ll confirm that the party never cared about us. Everything cannot be politics

@GovWike's camp panic as @atiku Abubakar divide Rivers PDP
fear grips Wike's camp as His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, divides Rivers State, it will interest you to know that the Atiku's camp in Rivers State is as strong as the PDP in Sokoto State

So Gov. Wike has issues with Sir. Celestine Omehia, Rt. Hon Austin Opara and now Sen. Lee Maeba.
Dictatorship has never been the solution. The ship is sinking.

He got it in 2022 because his fiercest contender is a minority. No matter what Wike does for PDP, he will never be regarded because he is an Ikwerre man. https://t.co/rjNklcXJWZ

This is the very first time things are not going Wike’s way in the PDP since 1999. Same party made him LG chair/ALGON boss, COS, Minister & now a 2-term Governor. Was also responsible for the selection & removal of 2 ex-PDP Chairmen!
What exactly does he want from Atiku and PDP?— FORLÁN (@Viqforlan) August 10, 2022
At Federal Level, Wike was allowed to purchase form & contested. But in Rivers, Wike bought all Gubernatorial forms available to himself, decided delegates, threatened aspirants and anointed a candidate, with NO reconciliation afterwards. Now want Atiku to give him all he demands.
