Igboho shared the certificate and a series of pictures from the event on his Instagram page on Tuesday.

“Congratulations to me as I was conferred Doctor of peace and security management/international relations with a specialization in war/conflict and peace studies from Triune Biblical University, USA,” he wrote.

“It’s such an honour to know that the Yoruba nation’s efforts are not in vain.”

Some of those present to witness the occasion include Banji Akintoye, leader of the Yoruba self-determination movement; Banji Ayiloge, vice chairman of the Yoruba self-determination movement; Wale Adeniran, vice chairman of Ilana Omo Odua, and Titi Aboyade Cole, the publicity director of YSDM.

Though from Igboho in Oyo State, he rose to prominence about 20 years ago, during his days on the streets of Modakeke in Osun State.

Igboho became more prominent during the Ife-Modakeke war where he fought on the side of the Modakeke people.

After the crisis, Mr Igboho could not go back to his profession so he joined the Modakeke branch of the National Road Transport Workers (NURTW), using his new association to rob most shop owners in the town.

On getting to Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, he joined the state branch of the NURTW before meeting former governor, Lam Adesina and Rashidi Ladoja who used him to fight against the threat thugs of late Lamidi Adedibu.

The Department of State Services (DSS) had declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling weapons in his residence.

The secession agitator was detained in a prison in the Benin Republic but was released in March 2022 to get medical attention on the condition that he would not leave the West African country.
