The 22-year-old Memphis rapper Big Scarr has reportedly passed away.
He was reported dead by The Shaderoom on Thursday and confirmed by rapper Gucci Mane, whose label,1017 Records, he was signed to.
Scarr’s death is currently unknown, and neither police nor local news have confirmed it.
Gucci wrote, ‘This hurt,’ beneath a carousel of pictures featuring the Memphis native, and added, ‘I’m gonna miss you, @bigscarr.’
Scarr recently posted on Instagram that he was going on tour with Key Glock, another Memphis rapper, as part of the Glockoma Tour 2023.
Using a broken heart emoji, Key Glock wrote on Twitter, ‘This is wicked, bro!!!’
Along with a broken heart emoji, she also shared a photo of the rapper writing, ‘My babbbyyy my best friend my son I love you forever.’
A clip of the two hugging followed, and she wrote, “I’ll do anything to hug you one more time.”
In a tribute, Renni Rucci wrote ‘Damn Scarr’ with an emoji of a sad face.
Who is Big Scarr?
Big Scarr was born on April 7, 2000, in the Magnolia neighbourhood of South Memphis.
His rap career began in 2019 when he released ‘Make a Play,’ which gained popularity on YouTube.
Gucci Mane’s label signed Scarr in 2020.
His mixtape, titled Big Grim Reaper, was released in 2021, followed by a deluxe edition the following year.
It debuted at number 25 on the Billboard 200 and sold 22,000 copies in its first week.
His death comes after the killings of two other Memphis rappers, Young Dolph and Snootie Wild.
While in Memphis in November 2021, Young Dolph was killed, while Snootie Wild was killed in Houston in February.
