According to Football Insider’s sources, Chelsea’s interest in Benfica star Enzo Fernandez and Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has cooled, paving the door for Newcastle to lure Christian Pulisic this month.

Along with James Maddison, Pulisic is one of Newcastle’s primary January transfer targets.

If a contract for the U.S. international can’t be reached this month, the northwestern powerhouses are willing to wait until the summer.

A ray of light for Newcastle comes from Chelsea’s reported interest in Mac Allister and Fernandez.

As they look to bolster their midfield, the west Londoners are reportedly very interested in Mac Allister, and Football Insider reported on Saturday that they are also actively pursuing a deal for Fernandez.

One of the two should be signed by the end of the month.

The midfielder is expected to cost Chelsea £60 million in the January transfer window to pry away from the Seahawks.

In the event that Mac Allister or Fernandez get closer to a deal, they will have to cash in on a big name, and Pulisic might help them raise the money they need for most of the transaction.

The London giants estimate his worth at roughly £40 million.

The 24-year-old winger has played in 14 games for the Blues in the Premier League this year, but he has only contributed one goal and one assist.

However, at Stamford Bridge, Pulisic has proven his adaptability by playing in every forward position for Chelsea.

Should he transfer to St. James Park, it would be useful because Eddie Howe needs extra depth on the wings for the Newcastle side.

The absence of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak in the starting lineup might create opportunities for the American to lead the line, and Pulisic would provide competition for Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron on the wings.

Besides, following the recent developments in Newcastle, a medical professional has made a “major” assertion regarding Alexander Isak.
