[ODUNEWS] January 14 – The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited announced on Friday the discovery of oil in Nasarawa State and the drilling of the first foot of an oil well in the northern state.
The discovery was made as part of the company’s ongoing oil exploration activities in the country’s inland basins, and the first oil well would be spud in Nasarawa State in March 2023, according to the company.
According to the article, the NNPC was taking coordinated steps to strengthen frontier exploration in the region as part of efforts to improve the country’s oil output and reserves.
The company revealed this in a paper outlining the NNPC’s frontier exploration services activities from 2020 to 2022, which listed some potential states where oil may be found.
