The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has announced that Rabiu Musa Kwankwso, the party’s presidential candidate, will be leading the campaign council.
During the council’s inauguration in Abuja on Monday, Kwankwaso outlined his plans for education in the country if he is elected as President. He stated that his government would build 500,000 classrooms in an effort to accommodate the more than 20 million children who are currently out of school.
In addition, he promised to make all application forms and exams, including WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NBIAS, and JAMB, free of charge. He also pledged to introduce a four-year moratorium for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam, allowing students to use the same results for admission to tertiary institutions.
Kwankwaso further stated that his government would work to upgrade and expand universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, with the goal of increasing their global competitiveness.
The NNPP’s zonal campaign rallies will begin on January 12 in Bauchi for the Northeast region, and continue on to Kaduna on January 14 and Lafia on January 16 for the Northwest and Northcentral regions, respectively. After the rally in Lafia, the campaign will be briefly suspended so that Kwankwaso can travel to London to present a discussion paper at the Royal Institute of International Affairs Chatham House.
