OSCAR AWARDS 2023: Complete List Of Nominees In All Categories

Everything Everywhere All At Once has scored 11 nominations. If the film wins all 11 awards, it will be tied with the most Oscar wins with Ben-Hur (1959), Titanic (1997), and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003). Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh were both nominated, becoming the first Asian actress nominated for Best Actress. Searchlight’s The Banshees of Inisherin and Netflix’s All Quiet on the Western Front has nine nominations. The Netflix war film is a remake of the 1930s film, which won two Oscars

[ODUNEWS] January 24 – The Oscar nominees for 2023 were announced today, and there were a few shocks.

The majority of the critics’ recommendations for the finest films of last year made the cut, with Everything, Everywhere, All At Once leading the way with 11 nods. Cate Blanchett’s exquisite performance in TR, Bill Nighy’s touching turn in Living, Brendan Fraser in The Whale, Michelle Williams’ unflinching portrayal in The Fabelmans (the source of some controversy on social media due to the relatively brief screen time), and Angela Bassett’s powerful appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever were also lauded by our critics. We’re delighted that one of our personal favourites, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, has been named Best Animated Film.

We’re pleased to see Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio recognised for Best Animated Film, but unhappy that Brett Morgan’s wonderful David Bowie documentary, Moonage Daydream, did not receive a nomination! Mia Goth’s dramatic performance in Pearl is also a significant oversight, and she was trending on Twitter at the time of writing. Because the entertainment media has already saturated the internet with opinions on other “snubs,” we’ll stop contributing to the noise and end on a good note. The film industry appears to be bouncing back strongly after the epidemic threatened to kill it.

This weekend saw the return of the Sundance Film Festival, which had gone virtual during COVID. Many of us aren’t ready to take the plunge.

The 95th Academy Awards will be broadcast live from Hollywood on ABC on March 12th. It will also be available on ABC.com, Hulu Live TV, and YouTubeTV, and will be hosted by Jimmu Kimmel. Keep an eye out for the announcements listed below.
