Retired colonel, two children abducted in Zamfara

Bandits have abducted retired colonel Rabi’u Yandoto and his two children along the Gusau-Tsafe Road in Zamfara State.

Mohammed Hassan, a local resident, stated that Yandoto and his two children were ambushed by bandits on their way to their homeland on Sunday night.

“The gunmen ambushed the retired colonel on Sunday night and kidnapped him along with his two children and two other victims,” Hassan said.

When Hassan said, “We heard gunshots and started rushing into the jungle in fear of the bandits,” he meant that they were running away from the robbers.

Senator Kabiru Marafa has a fierce political opponent in Yandoto, who has been actively working to prevent Marafa from being elected in 2023.

The main purpose of his political organization, Wake da Shinkafa, an offshoot of the Zamfara All Progressive Congress, is to prevent Kabiru Marafa from being elected as a senator in 2023.

The state police command’s spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached for comment prior to publication of this report.
