The South African police have released a statement regarding the tragic killing of rapper AKA, which occurred on Saturday, stating that they believe it was an assassination based on evidence gathered to date.
According to the police commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal province, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, AKA was shot by a gunman who approached him from behind and fired at close range, striking him in the side of the head.
A second gunman reportedly began firing shots to deter bystanders from intervening. Unfortunately, AKA’s friend, Tibz Motsoane, was struck and killed by one of the bullets.
Local media outlet News24 has released a screengrab allegedly showing the moment AKA was shot.
While police remain tight-lipped about the investigation into AKA’s murder, musos, media personalities and politicians have all paid tribute to the popular rapper. Their message has been consistent: AKA was a musical giant in South Africa's hip hop scene.https://t.co/Ij5mFpiIM1
