Ryan McKenna, the young man who gained fame for taking a selfie with Justin Timberlake during the 2018 Super Bowl halftime show, has recently made headlines once again. However, this time it’s not for something positive. According to reports, McKenna was arrested on a felony charge for battery on a law enforcement officer, as well as two misdemeanors for resisting arrest and obstructing an officer.
The arrest reportedly happened at a California Pizza Kitchen in Naples, Florida, on the night of the Super Bowl. Police responded to a call from a 15-year-old boy who reported that McKenna was drunk and hitting his friend. When police arrived, they found McKenna arguing with the boy and his girlfriend, and had to intervene to prevent further escalation.
After attempting to calm McKenna down and ask him to step away, police say that he became increasingly aggressive, waving his arms and attempting to approach the 15-year-old boy. They eventually had to use force to detain him, which led to his arrest.
This incident is a stark contrast to the young man’s previously positive image as “Selfie Kid,” the fan who captured a selfie with Justin Timberlake during the Super Bowl. McKenna, who was only 13 at the time, quickly gained social media fame for the moment, which quickly went viral.
It remains to be seen how this incident will affect McKenna’s public image, and what legal consequences he may face as a result of his actions.
