Suspected terrorists attacked several communities in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, Nigeria, resulting in 18 villagers being feared dead and several others injured.
The clashes occurred during a wedding Walimat in Majifa attended by terrorists, where some members of the local vigilantes clashed with them. This reportedly led to the terrorists launching attacks on other communities such as Gurbi, Danmarke, Gidan-Anchor, Gidan-Saika, Dan-Mangoro, and Gidan-Sale. Search parties were still busy looking for casualties in the communities to determine the exact number of those killed.
The injured were being treated at the General hospital in Kankara. SP Gambo Isah, the spokesman for the Katsina police command, confirmed the clash at Majifa but added that details surrounding the incident were still sketchy.
It is not the first time Katsina State has experienced such violence, with the state frequently being targeted by terrorist groups such as Boko Haram and bandits who engage in kidnapping, robbery, and cattle rustling.
The Nigerian government has been criticized for not doing enough to prevent these attacks and protect the citizens of the country. The recent attack in Katsina State has once again highlighted the need for the government to take more action to curb the activities of these groups and ensure the safety of Nigerians.
