Speeding Tanker Driver Causes Fatal Collision in Lafenwa Area

Four Killed in Tanker Accident in Ogun

On Friday night, a tragic accident involving a tanker and two cars in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta, Ogun, resulted in the deaths of four people.

The incident was confirmed on Saturday by Mrs. Florence Okpe, Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun.

Okpe revealed that the cause of the accident was the speeding tanker driver. The vehicles involved included a tanker with the license plate T-15321LA, a BMW car registered as TTD 421 CX, and an unregistered Nissan jeep.

The tanker driver lost control while attempting to turn at the Lafenwa Roundabout, subsequently colliding with two vehicles and the fence of a nearby building. The four victims, who were standing by the fence, were fatally trapped in the accident.

Okpe stated that the tanker’s contents were quickly transferred to another truck with the assistance of the fire service and traffic management personnel. The FRSC sector commander in the state, Ahmed Umar, expressed his grief over the incident and his frustration with the carelessness of some truck drivers who disregard the safety of other road users.

The families of the deceased have already claimed the bodies, likely for burial arrangements. Okpe offered her condolences to the victims’ families and encouraged them to contact the FRSC for further information about the crash.
