Nigeria’s oil production has increased to 1.8 million barrels per day, the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi.
The Minister noted that the onslaught launched against crude oil theft by the Nigerian Navy and other sister security agencies led to the increase.
Magashi spoke through the Chief of Naval Staff, Awwal Gambo in Port Harcourt on the sideline of the passing out parade of 156 Special Direct Pre-Commissioning Training Course, 2022, SDPCT, of the Nigerian Navy.
He said: “156 cadets have successfully completed the strenuous training, which commenced six months ago. I am pleased to observe that cadets that just passed out are joining the officer’s cadre of the Nigerian Navy at a time our nation requires your services, particularly from members of the armed forces to effectively demystify the diverse insecurity experienced in the country.
“There have been a number of successes recorded in the last few years. In this regard, I’m glad to observe that in addition to the substantial support to the sister services in some of this theatre of war, the Nigerian Navy has continued to sustain security across the Nigerian maritime domain”.
