Young man shot by police officer in Plateau state after political argument

A young man identified as Nyommena Badapba was shot by an unidentified police officer from Mopol 8 Jos, Plateau State on Sunday.

The victim, a resident of Tudun Wada community, was reportedly shot in his shoulder following an argument with the police officer. The argument was said to be centered on the outcome of the governorship election in the state.

According to a witness, the police officer was criticizing the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, while Nyommena was trying to defend him. When the argument became heated, Nyommena left for his house and was trailed from behind by the armed police officer who shot him.

The victim is currently receiving medical attention at Bingham University Teaching Hospital. The Plateau state police command is yet to verify the incident.

Social media users are calling on the police to investigate and bring the culprit to book.
