The Kano State Executive Council has appointed the former chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, as the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of the Governing Council of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kumbotso, a state-owned institution.

 

The appointment was announced by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Muhammad Garba, after the state’s Executive Council meeting. The council also appointed Oba Dr. Moshood Aliiwo as the Chancellor of the university.

The appointment of Jega and external council members will be for four years, renewable for another four years. The council also approved the appointment of principal officers, including Prof. Isa Yahaya Bunkure as the Provost of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education and Vice-Chancellor of the university.

The appointment of Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Bursar, and Librarian will be for five years, while the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) will have a tenure of two years each.
