“Today we mourn the loss of our beloved husband, father, brother, band mate, and friend Mark Sheehan, who passed away in the hospital following a brief illness,” the band shared in a heartfelt tweet. They requested that fans respect the family’s and band’s privacy during this difficult time.

The Script was formed in Dublin in 2001, with Mark Sheehan on guitar, childhood friend Danny O’Donoghue as lead vocalist, and Glen Power on drums. Sheehan and O’Donoghue, who had been friends since they were 13, initially left Dublin for Los Angeles to pursue their music careers.

While in the United States, the duo worked in songwriting and producing before returning to Ireland, where they recruited Power to join the band. Their eponymous debut album, “The Script,” released in 2008, soared to number one in both the UK and Ireland. The album’s first single, “We Cry,” reached number 15 in the UK, while another track, “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” climbed to number two on the singles charts.

In 2010, the band released their second album, “Science and Faith,” which also secured the top spot in the UK and Ireland. Their subsequent albums, “#3” (2012), “No Sound Without Silence” (2014), “Freedom Child” (2017), and “Sunsets & Full Moons” (2019), continued their chart-topping success in both countries.

The Script has sold over 20 million albums globally, and their music has been featured in numerous popular television shows, including “EastEnders,” “Made in Chelsea,” and the American comedy-drama “90210.”
