In a disturbing incident, a police station located on Olayiwola Close in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, was set ablaze by a group of angry youths. The incident took place in the early hours of Monday and resulted in the injury of a police officer on duty.

The assaulted officer suffered a head injury and was immediately rushed to the emergency center at the toll gate along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for urgent medical attention.

According to reports from residents, the incident that triggered the outrage by the youths occurred the previous day. A fight broke out among some hoodlums on Oregun road around 10 pm. Policemen from an Alause police van, who were on patrol, intervened to disperse the crowd. During the intervention, they fired their weapons sporadically, and unfortunately, a young boy was hit by a stray bullet in the thigh. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the young boy, identified as Idris Jagun, tragically succumbed to his injuries.

An officer named Kabiru, attached to the Oregun police station, has been alleged as the one who discharged the shot that resulted in the death of Idris Jagun.

The incident has sparked anger among the youths in the area, leading to the attack on the police station and the subsequent arson. Authorities are expected to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring those responsible for the attack and the death of Idris Jagun to justice.
