President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu says his administration will give women the best representation ever witnessed in the country.
According to NAN, Tinubu spoke on Tuesday in Abuja at the presentation of a book titled, ‘101 Nigerian Women of Impact’, authored by Zainab Marwa.
The president-elect, who was represented by Betta Edu, national women leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said Nigerian women are the “missing chip in the puzzle that would fix this country”.
“All I can say is Nigerian women can go home smiling because you will have one of the best times in representation in government. Nigerian women will be appreciated,” Tinubu said.
“They have done well and are still doing well. We are proud of every effort that has been put on the table.
“Nigeria is at a turning point and the missing chip in that puzzle that would fix this country and give us the speed we need are the women folk. This is your call to action and development.”
On his part, Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, said opportunities for women abound in Nigeria when a conducive environment is created for them.
“Women are needed to accelerate the pace of growth and development. Women no longer belong in the background because they are now breaking barriers,” he said.
“There should be an enabling environment for them to contribute maximally to the growth of the nation. As leaders, we have to deliberate about these efforts.”
