Barcelona FC Rules Out Kimmich Summer Transfer due to Economic Constraints

Barcelona FC, the reigning Spanish champions, has declared that a summer transfer of German midfielder Joshua Kimmich is off the table due to financial constraints. Joan Laporta, Barcelona’s club president, broke the news in an interview with Catalan broadcasters TV3.

Laporta confirmed that they had not even considered pursuing Bayern Munich’s Kimmich or Martin Zubimendi of La Liga rivals, Real Sociedad, due to the astronomical costs involved in these potential deals.

Both players had been tipped as potential replacements for Barcelona’s seasoned midfielder, Sergio Busquets, who has made a recent switch to Inter Miami.

In recent remarks, Barcelona’s head coach, Xavi Hernandez, had lauded Kimmich as an exceptional player and had expressed a willingness to engage in discussions with Munich if a potential transfer window were to open.

However, Bayern president, Herbert Hainer, had viewed these comments with distaste, interpreting them as an overt attempt to lure their player away.

Earlier in the week, Barcelona had made headlines by securing the signature of German midfielder Ilkay Gündogan on a free transfer from English champions Manchester City, marking a significant addition to their roster.
