Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin made a triumphant comeback as he participated in full practice with his teammates for the first time since experiencing cardiac arrest in January.
During the team’s organized team activities (OTAs) on Tuesday, the 25-year-old Hamlin fully embraced NFL action once again after a five-month hiatus.
However, there was a moment of concern when Hamlin reportedly struggled to regain his footing after contesting a ball during practice, requiring assistance to stand up. Thankfully, the Bills’ athletic trainers quickly assessed the situation and determined that Hamlin was fine to continue practicing.
While Hamlin had previously returned to the practice field last month, he had not yet worn pads or a helmet during the workout, easing himself back into the competitive environment.
Having been awarded the 2022 NFL George Halas Award for his unwavering determination in the face of near-death, Hamlin appeared optimistic and full of energy throughout the practice session.
Expressing his desire to resume his football career, Hamlin relentlessly pursued his goal, and once medical professionals gave him the green light to play again, he set his sights on turning this moment into a reality.
