Burna Boy has announced a new date for his Netherlands concert following public outrage after cancelling the highly anticipated show.
The new date comes hours after the Grammy-winning singer apologises to the ‘Love Damini’ concertgoers for standing them up.
Via his Instagram stories, Burna explained his “amazing team have been hard at work trying to salvage” the show, which was slated to take place on June 17th, 2023, at the 39,000-capacity GelreDome in Arnhem, Netherlands, adding, “but we couldn’t do it in time,” hence, “I’ll be announcing a new date.”
He expressed gratitude to his fans for their love and support, leaving him, ‘constantly humbled and in awe’.
He went on to thank them for ‘coming and waiting just to see his team and him’, noting he’d ‘forever appreciate that’ while promising a new date in hours; urging the fans to ‘watch out for it’.
Hours later, the Grammy Awards winner updated the general public and all concerned, revealing July 23rd, 2023, as the new date, with all ticket holders having an “opportunity to register for different levels of FREE transportation to the venue on the said day.
‘Odogwu’ began the update with yet another apology stating; “Again, my deepest apologies for ALL the inconveniences caused last night! I know people came from far and wide, made trips around the show, and expected to get one.
“I understand and recognise the sacrifices that people made to turn up. People with schedules, jobs, and families. I’m heartbroken.
“New Date: 23rd July 2023. Venue: GelreDome Stadium, Arnheim.
“All ticket holders will have an opportunity to register for different levels of FREE transportation to the venue on show day.”
Hoping his apologies have been accepted by the ‘Outsiders’, anticipating a showdown with them next month, Burna Boy added: “Everyone who knows me knows that I live to perform and this was far beyond my control. I’ll understand if not but hopefully, I get a chance to see you all again next month.”
