Chelsea Football Club is edging closer to securing the highly sought-after Santos wonderkid Angelo, as Barcelona has decided not to exercise their first-option clause. Barcelona had the opportunity to match any bid for the 18-year-old striker, but they have officially withdrawn from the race, according to sources.
Angelo, who has already made an impressive 129 appearances for Santos at such a young age, is represented by prominent agent Kia Joorabchian. Joorabchian has been working to secure a move for the Brazilian talent since January, and negotiations with Chelsea are currently ongoing. While the finer details of the deal are being worked out, it is clear that Barcelona will not be involved in the discussions.
If the deal is finalized, Angelo is expected to sign a six-year contract with Chelsea. The London club will now focus on integrating the young striker into their squad, although it remains to be seen if he will immediately join the first team or be sent out on loan to gain further experience.
