Renowned comedian Adebowale Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has candidly revealed that he experienced a period of depression after being expelled from university in 2017. This was particularly challenging for him as it was the fourth university he had attended.

Taking to his Twitter account on Saturday, the skit maker shared his struggle with depression during that time. He wrote, “I was dealing with depression late 2017/2018—that was the period I was expelled from Uni. And it was the 4th University at the time.”

Mr Macaroni also disclosed that he faced another bout of depression in 2018 due to his inability to secure acting gigs. It was during this period that he began creating and posting content online, eventually gaining recognition and achieving stardom.

He further explained, “From 2018-2019 was another round of depression. I continued hustling for roles again in Nollywood. I have been acting on and off since like 2011… From one audition to another. Dem scam me tire. I dey pay for form on top say I wan act… I started creating content and posting online late 2019 when depression wan finish me. God picked my call the same year.”

Mr Macaroni clarified that he was eventually recalled by the institution that had expelled him and successfully graduated.

By sharing his personal experience, Mr Macaroni sheds light on the challenges he faced and emphasizes the importance of mental health awareness. His story serves as an inspiration to others who may be going through similar struggles, demonstrating that with resilience and determination, one can overcome adversity and achieve success.
