The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has vowed to prosecute Ejikeme Mmesoma, a 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidate from Anambra State, for allegedly falsifying her exam result.
According to a statement released on Sunday and signed by JAMB spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, Mmesoma had actually scored 249, contrary to her claimed score of 362. Benjamin accused Mmesoma of altering her UTME result in an attempt to “fraudulently obtain scholarship and other recognitions.”
The statement revealed that Mmesoma had been awarded a N3m scholarship by Innocent Chukwuma, the founder of Innoson Motors, based on her inflated score.
JAMB also expressed its concern over the growing trend of candidates parading fake results obtained through “funny software packages.” Consequently, the board declared that Mmesoma’s original result would be withdrawn.
The Board urged individuals and organizations offering scholarships to always ensure the authenticity of results from the Board, as done by the Anambra State Ministry of Education. The Board stated, “Unknown to her, the Board had changed the design of the 2023 UTME result sheet. Her original result remains 249 as nothing can change that. With this her ignoble act, Miss Mmesoma would be prosecuted and her original result withdrawn.”
