NCS Restructures Leadership to Meet Core Mandates

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a series of key appointments and redeployments aimed at ensuring operational efficiency following the recent retirement of some high-ranking officers. The Acting Comptroller-General of NCS, Adewale Adeniyi, has made significant changes to the leadership structure of the organization.

In a press statement released yesterday, the NCS revealed that Comptrollers Florence Nanu Ogar-Modey and Queen Ogbudu have been appointed as Acting Assistant Comptroller Generals by the Acting Comptroller-General, Adewale Adeniyi.

Comptroller Florence Nanu Ogar-Modey will assume the responsibilities of Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), while Comptroller Queen Ogbudu will take on the role of Zonal Coordinator for Zone B.

According to Mr. Abudullahi Maida, the National Public Relations Officer of Customs, these appointments and redeployments are a strategic move to enhance operational efficiency within the NCS. He further explained that the changes were necessary due to the recent retirement of several top management officers.

As part of the restructuring efforts, numerous Comptrollers have been redeployed to various Customs formations across the country. Some of the notable changes include:

Comptroller Jaiyeoba Jide, formerly in charge of Oyo/Osun Area Command, has been redeployed to Apapa Area Command.
Comptroller Dera Nnadi, previously at Seme, will now oversee Tin-Can Island Port.
Comptroller Timi Bomodi, who served at KLT, will now be stationed at Seme.
Comptroller Ahmed Abe, formerly with PCA Zone ‘C,’ has been appointed to lead the Kaduna Area Command.
Comptroller Babandede Mohammad, who was stationed at Lilypond Export Command, will now head the Lagos Free Trade Zone Command.
Additionally, Comptroller Dauda Ibrahim Chana has been reassigned from Investigation Headquarters to the Kano/Jigawa Area Command. Comptroller Martina Tilleygyado, who was in Non-Intrusive Inspection, will now oversee the KLT Area Command. Comptroller Oloyode Adekunle has been transferred from Tin-Can Island Port to the Import & Export Headquarters, while Comptroller Zanna Chiroma will be leaving Import & Export for PCA Zone ‘C,’ among several other changes.

Mr. Maiwada, speaking on behalf of the Acting Comptroller-General, emphasized that the affected officers are expected to redouble their efforts in achieving the NCS’s core mandates, which include revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and trade facilitation. These appointments and redeployments are seen as crucial steps towards enhancing the overall performance and effectiveness of the Nigeria Customs Service.
