The heartbreaking news has broken that footballer Sodiq Adebisi has died after suffering a catastrophic collapse during training. The event took place at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, at the Dipo Dina International Stadium.
On a Saturday, as Adebisi was training with other footballers, the sad situation occurred, according to PUNCH Online. After the athlete, who was 34 years old, took a tumble to the ground, his colleagues wasted no time in getting him to a state hospital in Ijebu-Ode.
Sodiq Adebisi was declared dead the day he was admitted, despite the hospital’s dedicated medical staff’s best efforts. His remains were taken to the state mortuary in Ijebu-Ode after the unfortunate incident.
Omolola Odutola, the state police PR officer verified the tragic news on Tuesday, noting that the event had been reported to the Igbeba Police Division by the dead footballer’s brother, Ganiyu Adebisi. Ganiyu Adebisi asked for permission to cremate his brother in line with Islamic traditions.
Our Igbeba division received the brother’s report of the occurrence. “According to Islamic rite, the family said they wanted to bury the deceased and don’t want any investigation,” Odutola stated.
