The Police Department of Nasarawa State has announced the apprehension of an individual posing as a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), identified as Ogeh Bethel Chibuife, at the Magaji Dan Yumusa Orientation Camp in Keffi.
In a press release distributed on Thursday by the state’s Police Spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, it was revealed that the capture was initiated following a report received at the Keffi Divisional Office from an NYSC official.
The press release detailed that the imposter was uncovered after a routine roll call of corps members partaking in a week-long orientation program at the facility.
DSP Nansel explained that the individual, found to be a student from the Ebonyi State University, in the Faculty of Management Science and the Department of Public Administration, had illegitimately gained access to the camp.
In her admission, she stated, “She confessed that she was supposed to have graduated in 2022 but had a lot of spillover courses, and in a bid to cover up the lies she’d made to her parents, she went to the market and purchased NYSC uniforms/other items meant for Corps members and sneaked into the Camp to take pictures and send to her parents before nemesis caught up with her.”
Furthermore, the statement issued a stern warning from the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State, CP Umar Shehu Nadada psc, mni, urging anyone contemplating similar deceptive acts to reconsider, emphasizing that the law will eventually prevail.
