In another OBO move, Nigerian music superstar Davido paid his friend and fellow artist Iyanya $100,000 to perform at the CHIVIDO 2024 bridal shower—well above Iyanya’s usual fee.
Iyanya shared the touching story, expressing his surprise and gratitude. “When Davido called me to perform at the bridal shower, I accepted without a second thought,” Iyanya said. “I wasn’t expecting any payment because of everything Davido has done for me. An all-night performance wouldn’t even begin to show my appreciation.”
Despite Iyanya’s insistence on performing for free, Davido was determined to pay him. “He asked how much he should pay me, and I told him I didn’t need any money,” Iyanya recounted. “But he wouldn’t take no for an answer. He called his manager, and before I knew it, I got a credit alert for $100,000. I couldn’t believe my eyes.”
Davido’s only request was for Iyanya to make his wife’s bridal shower memorable. “Throughout my performance, I felt so honored and overwhelmed by Davido’s generosity,” Iyanya said.
