Kogi Lawmaker Salman Idris Defects from ADC to APC

Salman Idris, the lawmaker representing Ijumu/Kabba-Bunu Federal Constituency of Kogi State, has announced his defection from the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Idris’s decision to switch parties was conveyed in a letter read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen during a House session. In his letter, Idris attributed his defection to a crisis within the national structure of the ADC.

Following the announcement, Minority Whip Ali Isa raised a point of order, invoking Section 68 of the 1999 Constitution, and called for Idris’s seat to be declared vacant due to his party switch. However, Speaker Abbas dismissed the point of order, allowing Idris to retain his seat.
