Lagos State Launches Interchange Hubs to Enhance Transportation and Quality of Life

Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced that the upcoming construction of interchange hubs will majorly improve transportation, reduce travel time, and enhance the quality of life for residents.

Osiyemi emphasized that these hubs are a testament to the state government’s dedication to transforming Lagos into a world-class megacity. He made these remarks during the laudable ceremony organized by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) in collaboration with Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

The interchange hubs are part of the broader Lagos State Transport Master Plan, which aims to create a seamless and efficient transport network across the state.

Xavier Muron, AFD’s Country Director in Nigeria, highlighted the significance of the partnership with LAMATA in promoting sustainable urban development. Muron stated, “The movement of people across the city is an important sustainable goal. It’s all about managing the last mile by connecting all modes of transportation in Lagos.”

He added, “The expectation is to have millions crossing these hubs daily. This is a real game-changer in Lagos.”

LAMATA’s Managing Director, Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, expressed gratitude to the project consultants for their dedication and mentioned that the agency looks forward to the commissioning of the hubs in 15 months.
