Gang members loyal to slain bandit leader Kachalla Nagala launched a deadly ambush on their rival, Kachalla Mai Shayi, killing him and 12 of his followers in a violent clash in Zamfara State. The incident took place between the villages of Buroyi and Buzaya, near Sangerawa in the Bini district of Maru Local Government Area.
The attack, reported on Monday by counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama via his X (formerly Twitter) account, is part of a series of revenge attacks among rival bandit factions operating in the forested areas of Zamfara. Makama revealed that Kachalla Mai Shayi was a key lieutenant of the notorious bandit leader Kachalla Yellow Mai Balli Balli.
Makama noted, “The ambush appears to be part of an ongoing cycle of revenge attacks among rival bandit factions in the forested areas of Zamfara.” The violence was triggered after Kachalla Yellow Mai Bille killed Kachalla Nagala, which has sparked continuous violence among the gangs.
The followers of the late Kachalla Nagala are reportedly seeking revenge against Yellow Mai Bille and other rival leaders, including Sojan Zakwaui and Yellon Emir. The escalating feud continues to claim lives, as bandit factions wage bloody battles to avenge their fallen leaders.
