Gun Battle Between Soldiers and Bandits Leaves Many Dead in Imo State

A fierce gunfight erupted between soldiers and suspected bandits in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, resulting in multiple deaths and several injuries. The attack occurred on Sunday night in the Aba branch of Ehime Mbano, plunging the area into chaos as gunfire echoed through the night.

Sources confirmed to OduNews.com that the bandits had attacked soldiers stationed in the area, leading to a prolonged battle. “Some non-state actors attacked and killed some soldiers in the area yesterday,” a source said, adding, “The whole place is on fire, and troops have taken over nearby communities.”

Residents in the area fled in panic as continuous gunshots rang out, creating a climate of fear and uncertainty. “We are terrified,” a resident, who chose to remain anonymous, shared. “The sound of gunfire is still echoing in our ears. We don’t know what will happen next. Ehime used to be a serene environment, we don’t know what is happening.”

As of now, neither police nor military authorities have released an official statement regarding the incident.
