Hollywood Star Recovering After Incident, Recalls Past Health Struggles
Actor Jamie Foxx is recovering after an altercation at a Beverly Hills restaurant on Friday left him with injuries during his birthday dinner.
According to Foxx’s spokesperson, the incident occurred when an individual from another table threw a glass that struck the actor in the mouth, requiring stitches. “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called, and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands,” the spokesperson confirmed.
The Beverly Hills Police Department responded to a call about a possible assault with a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow restaurant shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday. However, officers later determined that the situation did not involve such an assault but rather a physical altercation.
“Upon investigation, officers determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded,” the department stated. “Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties. The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made.”
Foxx Responds to Incident
On Sunday morning, Foxx took to social media to thank fans for their prayers and support while urging them to watch his Netflix special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was.
“The devil is busy… but I’m too blessed to be stressed,” he wrote. “Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright…”
Health Challenges Shared in Netflix Special
The incident comes just days after Foxx opened up about his near-death health scare last year in his Netflix special. In April 2022, the Oscar-winning actor experienced a brain bleed that led to a stroke, leaving him unconscious for 20 days.
“It is a mystery,” Foxx said in the special. “We still don’t know exactly what happened to me.”
He recounted how his sister, whom he described as “4 foot 11 of nothing but pure love,” rushed him to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta after he complained of a severe headache. Doctors diagnosed him with a brain bleed and performed life-saving surgery, warning him that it could lead to “the worst year of his life.”
Despite the grim prognosis, Foxx has made a remarkable recovery, using his experience to express gratitude and inspire others.
