Actress Regina Daniels Tells Senator Ned Nwoko: We Were Never Married, Leave Me Alone

Nollywood star Regina Daniels has publicly directed her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, to stop contacting her and asserted that their union did not have legal backing.

In a statement posted on Instagram early Sunday, Daniels acknowledged that she used drugs, but said the real issue between them was his alleged “systematic plan” to isolate her from family and friends.

“Fine, I did drugs. So what? Is that even the issue between us? The moment we had a fight you rushed to the public shouting ‘drugs, drugs, drugs,’ because you knew it would make a perfect story for the media,” she wrote.

She further accused the senator of confiscating her phones for weeks so she could not speak with loved ones and said he declared her “mentally unstable” when she expressed a wish to leave the union.

“And for the record… I would have filed for divorce long ago if there was ever a legal marriage between us. We were never married in any court of law, and no documents were signed. Leave me alone, Ned. Marriage is not by force. Love is not by force,” she insisted.

The Instagram post comes days after Daniels was seen in a viral video in tears, expressing despair over what she described as a violent and controlling environment. The matter escalated earlier this month when Nwoko filed a petition with the police, resulting in the arrest and remand of her brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, on charges of alleged trespass, conspiracy and intimidation.

In his response, Nwoko dismissed the accusations and attributed the crisis to Daniels’ drug and alcohol issues, indicating she needed rehabilitation.
