Troop against Boko Haram

Troops under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have rescued 86 civilians abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters and arrested 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers during a major counter-insurgency operation in Borno State.

The rescue operation occurred on Sunday, November 9, along the Damaturu-Buratai-Biu road near Dutsen Kura, after troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 engaged terrorists who were intercepting vehicles and abducting motorists.

Military sources confirmed that troops thwarted the ambush and pursued the terrorists towards Mangari. The insurgents fled following a fierce encounter at one of their makeshift camps, which was subsequently destroyed.

The rescued victims include men, women, and children who were abducted while travelling. Recovered items at the scene included an AK-47 rifle, five magazines with 73 rounds, four PKT ammunition belts, five civilian vehicles, five motorcycles, eight bicycles, and two logistics tricycles.

In a separate operation in the Mangana agricultural hub in Biu LGA, troops arrested 29 individuals allegedly supplying logistics to terrorists. Items recovered include two pickup vans, a tricycle, over 1,000 litres of petrol in jerrycans, gun truck tyres, medical supplies, and large quantities of food.

There were no military casualties in the operations.

The Military High Command praised the troops’ efforts and urged them to maintain momentum to deny terrorists freedom of action across the region.
