Faleke picks APC presidential forms for Tinubu ahead of 2027 race

James Abiodun Faleke, the House of Representatives member for Ikeja Federal Constituency, picked up the All Progressives Congress presidential nomination forms for President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday. The Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms cost ₦100 million.

Faleke collected the documents at the APC national secretariat as Tinubu prepares to seek re-election in 2027. The move signals the party's early mobilisation for the next presidential contest, with preparations already underway despite the 2023 election ending less than two years ago.

The Ikeja lawmaker also picked up gubernatorial nomination forms, suggesting the APC is positioning multiple candidates across different levels of government ahead of the 2027 cycle. Vice-President Kashim Shettima's involvement in the process indicates the administration's active backing for Tinubu's second-term ambitions.

The ₦100 million price tag for the presidential forms remains steep, though it falls within the APC's fee structure for top-tier nominations. Political analysts say the early pickup signals confidence within the ruling party about retaining power in three years. Faleke's role as the nominee to collect the forms underscores his standing within the party hierarchy and his proximity to the presidency.
