Tinubu receives Jonathan at State House

Former President Goodluck Jonathan met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, marking a fresh engagement between the two leaders after months of limited contact.

Jonathan's previous visit to the presidential villa was in late November, shortly after soldiers loyal to Guinean-Bissau President Umaro Enbalo airlifted him out of the West African nation during a coup attempt. The ex-president had been in Bissau as the African Union's special envoy to help mediate the political crisis.

Details of Tuesday's meeting remain unclear, but the visit signals continued dialogue between Tinubu and Jonathan on matters of national or regional importance. Jonathan, who led Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, has remained active in diplomatic circles since leaving office, taking on various continental assignments.

The timing of the meeting comes as Nigeria grapples with security challenges and economic pressures. What was discussed and whether further consultations are planned remain undisclosed.
