Ecobank customers can now handle most banking tasks without internet or a smartphone app by dialling USSD codes on any phone.

The bank offers a range of codes that let users send money, buy airtime, check balances, and open accounts directly from their handsets. For Nigerians without data plans or smartphones, these codes have become a lifeline for quick financial transactions.

To transfer money between Ecobank accounts or to other banks, customers dial *326# and follow the prompts. The service works on all phone types, from basic Nokia devices to modern smartphones, making it accessible to nearly everyone in the country.

Airtime purchases happen just as fast. Dialling *326*1# lets customers buy credit for themselves or others, selecting their preferred network and amount in seconds. The transaction goes through immediately, and the airtime appears on the target phone.

Account opening through USSD removes the need to visit a branch. New customers dial *326*0# to start the process, providing basic details and verification information over the phone. The entire process takes minutes rather than hours.

Balance checks are straightforward too. Dialling *326*00# displays your current account balance instantly. Mini statements showing recent transactions are available by dialling *326*01#.

Ecobank rolled out these codes to serve its millions of customers across Nigeria who rely on feature phones or have limited data access. The codes work whether you are in Lagos, Abuja, or remote areas where internet speeds are slow.

Customers who forget their codes can visit any Ecobank branch or call the bank's customer service line for reminders. The codes require no registration fee and work 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Ecobank plans to add more features to its USSD platform in coming months, including bill payments and insurance purchases. The bank continues to invest in making banking accessible to all Nigerians regardless of their technology.
