Ekiti Rep Kolawole rejects APC primary results, demands party review

Rep. Akinlayo Kolawole of Ekiti North has rejected the results of the All Progressives Congress primary election, claiming the exercise was marred by inconsistencies that warrant a fresh look from party leadership.

Kolawole made his position known shortly after the results were announced, expressing concerns about how the primary was conducted. He did not specify which particular inconsistencies bothered him but insisted the party needed to step in and sort out what he described as irregularities in the process.

The Ekiti North lawmaker's rejection adds to the growing list of complaints from aspirants who contested the APC primary. Party primaries have long been sources of tension within the APC, with losing candidates often challenging the credibility of elections they say were predetermined or poorly managed.

Kolawole represents Ekiti North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. His call for a review puts pressure on the APC's national leadership to either stand by the primary results or open the door to fresh elections, a move that could further delay the party's preparations for upcoming elections.

The party has not yet responded to Kolawole's demand. Party insiders say the leadership will likely wait to see how many other aspirants formally lodge complaints before deciding whether to order a review or defend the primary results as valid.
