Abubakar Galadima has won the All Progressives Congress governorship primary in Adamawa State, securing 414,444 votes in a contest that saw his closest rivals trail far behind.
Galadima's commanding victory came as he polled more than four times the votes of the second-place finisher, House of Representatives member Abdulrazak Namdas, who managed only 86,004 votes. The margin underscored Galadima's strength among delegates at the primary.
Abdulrahman Haske, who finished third with 65,424 votes, was less gracious about the outcome. Haske's camp responded to the result with fury, signalling potential discord within the party as it heads toward the general election. His reaction suggested the primary process had left raw feelings among some aspirants who believed they had legitimate chances.
The primary victory positions Galadima as the APC's standard-bearer in Adamawa for the next election cycle. What happens next will depend on how quickly the party moves to unite its fractured ranks, particularly whether Haske and his supporters fall in line or pursue alternative political paths.
