Nollywood actress Kehinde Bankole has called on the Nigerian government to take decisive action against the rising wave of kidnappings across the country, demanding tactical results rather than empty promises.
Bankole made the call in a statement where she expressed concern about the frequency of abductions and what she described as the slow response from security agencies. She said the government needed to move beyond rhetoric and implement concrete measures that would stem the tide of kidnappings.
The actress did not mince words about her frustration with the security situation. She stressed that citizens deserved more than reassurances, pointing out that families continued to lose loved ones to kidnappers while authorities appeared overwhelmed.
Bankole's intervention adds to growing voices from public figures demanding that the government prioritise the safety of Nigerians. Her statement reflects the anxiety many citizens feel about kidnappings, which have become a recurring nightmare in several parts of the country.
The government has not yet responded to Bankole's call. Security agencies have continued to carry out operations against kidnappers, though progress remains slow in many regions.
